As the NBA preseason kicks off and the league prepares for another year, DataPOWA analysed which teams were most successful connecting with their audience through TikTok during September, as each squad begins formal preparations for the 21/22 season.
Interestingly, many of the NBA’s ‘traditional’ social media top performers, such as the Lakers or Boston Celtics, are absent at the top of the list – suggesting that historical performance might not be as important on TikTok compared to other platforms (such as Twitter or Facebook), in fact, the Lakers are yet to even launch their brand on the channel.
All of the top American teams should now have TikTok as a core part of their social media strategies, as they look to connect with a younger audience and bring in a new wave of support.
